David Walker was born with a free mother, giving him freedom. However, David’s father was a slave who died sometime around his birth (either before or after, I kept getting different information about whether he died before or after.)
3
David Walker became Boston’s leading spokesman against slavery by the end of 1828. David published the first edition of Walker’s Appeal in 1829.
4
Walker’s Appeal made slaves rebel, causing slave masters to get very angry. The bounty for David Walker was $3,000 dead and $10,000 alive. David died after the third publishing of his appeal. He died of mysterious causes, but many people think he was poisened.
