Transfer ( Gait ) Belt A Band of fabric or leather that is positioned around a Patient’s waist. During Ambulation and Transfers the healthcare worker grabs the Belt to provide additional support for the patient

Things to Remember with Gait Belts
Proper Size Grasp the Loop or Underhand the Belt Grasp from the Back Over the Patient’s Clothing

Types of Crutches 3 Main Types:
Axillary ( Under the Arms / Classical Crutch) and are not recommended for the Elderly Forearm or Lofstrand Crutch ( Long Term and Attaches to the Forearms) Platform Crutch (Used when Patients cannot grip the Handles)

Fitting for Crutches Patient in Walking Shoes 4-6 Inches in front and to the Side of the Feet 2 Inches Below the Armpit Arms Should be at Degrees
