Who was “Kidd the Pirate”? Pirate born in Scotland in 1645 Pursued French and eventually pirate ships who interfered with British and American trade In time, however, he became a pirate himself In 1699, he returned to New York, hoping to be pardoned En route, he buried or gave away large amounts of treasure. Was arrested and returned to Boston where he was hanged for murder and piracy in 1701. Rumors concerning the buried treasure of Captain Kidd have persisted for over 300 years!
