9 Features Aajeevika Skills is an important component of the National Skill Development Policy and an integral part of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM). Its features are: Market-led, placement-linked training Mandatory assured placement of 75% of trained candidates Rural youth from poor families in the age group of 18 to 35 years (upper age limit is 45 years in case of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, widows, freed bonded labor etc.) Social inclusion through mandatory coverage of socially disadvantaged groups (SC/ST 50%, Minority 15%, Women 33%)

10 Regional inclusion through: Himayat: A special scheme for the youth (rural & urban) of Jammu & Kashmir Roshni: A special initiative for the rural youth of poor families in 27 Left-wing Extremist (LWE) districts across nine States Northeast Region: 10% of programme funds secured for States in the North East region Minimum remuneration of Rs 6000 per month or minimum wages whichever is higher Post-placement, career progression and migration support

12 Objective The objective of this Scheme is to encourage skill development for youth by providing monetary rewards for successful completion of approved training programs. Specifically, the Scheme aims to: Encourage standardization in the certification process and initiate a process of creating a registry of skills Increase productivity of the existing workforce and align the training and certification to the needs of the country.

13 Provide Monetary Awards for Skill Certification to boost employability and productivity of youth by incentivizing them for skill trainings Reward candidates undergoing skill training by authorized institutions at an average monetary reward. Benefit 10 lakh youth at an approximate total cost of Rs. 1,000 Crores.

15 A special scheme called Roshni with separate guidelines has been launched that takes into account the peculiar situation in extremist affected districts. In particular it provides for training programs over different time periods. Currently these are for three, six, nine and twelve months. Features

16 In the twelve month format besides the normal, skill, IT and soft skill training, trainees are also provided National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) certification (8th or 10th ) depending on the level at which they dropped out of the formal school system. These guidelines will be applicable to Roshni projects in both AAP and non AAP states. Efforts will be made to orient Roshni towards addressing the infrastructure, education and health deficiencies in these areas, and leveraging the availability of natural resources and traditional skills and knowledge.

18 Introduction The National Skill Development Corporation India (NSDC) is a one of its kind, Public Private Partnership in India. It aims to promote skill development by catalyzing creation of large, quality, for-profit vocational institutions. It provides funding to build scalable, for-profit vocational training initiatives. Its mandate is also to enable support systems such as quality assurance, information systems and train the trainer academies either directly or through partnerships.

19 Objective To contribute significantly (about 30 per cent) to the overall target of skilling / up skilling 500 million people in India by 2022, mainly by fostering private sector initiatives in skill development programmes and providing funding.

21 Objective Promote skill development of the manpower in the PSS and narrow existing gaps between demand and supply. Develop framework for upgrading skills of Security Guards to international standards. Undertake research to identify future requirements in training and skill enhancement. Initiate, carry out, execute, implement, aid and assist activities towards skill development in the PSS. Develop skill development plan for the PSS. Determine skill/competency standards and qualifications. Plan and execute Training of Trainers.

22 Promote academies of excellence. Establish well structured ‘Labor Market Information System’ to assist planning and delivery of training. Facilitate in standardizing the affiliation and accreditation process for the PSS. Identify skill development needs, review international trends and identify sector skill gaps and technology. Undertake task of education and vocational skill upgrades. Facilitate in setting up robust and stringent certification and accreditation process to ensure acceptability of standards

24 Safety Audit is management tool comprising of a systematic, periodic and objective evaluation of how well the safety organization, management and equipment are performing with the aim of helps to safeguard a company’s assets by facilitating management control of safety, health and environmental practices and assessing compliance with established standards. Types Of Audits 1- External : These are conducted by a third party 2- Internal : Corporate : By headquarters or Personnel from other units of the same company. 3- Self : In –house – by the plant personnel themselves.

25 Audits Objectives 1- Verify compliance with established standards (regulations, internal policies and industry wise standards of practice ) 2- Identify deviation from designed and planned operating and maintenance procedure and standards 3- Identify plant condition or operating procedures that could lead to an accident and significant losses to life or property 4- Ensure that the plan and operating and maintenance procedures match the design intent and standards.
