on the instruments used for measuring the wind speed
This visit aims to: 1. learn more about the wind as learnt in the topic 2. gain knowledge on the instruments used for measuring the wind speed and condition of wind in other areas/countri

What is wind? Moving air is called wind. This is cause by a difference in air pressure and temperature between two areas. Wind can best described by its direction and strength (speed).

FINDING WIND DIRECTION AND MEASURING THE WIND STRENGTH (SPEED)
INSTRUMENTS FOR FINDING WIND DIRECTION AND MEASURING THE WIND STRENGTH (SPEED)
5
a.To find out the direction of wind is by using wind vane.
- The wind vane has an arrow which can rotate freely in the air. This points in the directions from which the wind is blowing.
6
b. Windsocks helps us to tell the wind direction as well as its strength. They are frequently found in small airports to show both the direction and strength of the wind.
7
c. Anemometre can be used to measure the wind strength (speed) more accurately. The stronger the wind , the faster the cups on the anemometre will spin. The speed in kilometres per hour is then read from the scale at the base of the anemometre.
