Do Children in ks2 at my School Play Age Inappropriate Video Games? 12.6.14 By Rhia Arora
2
I wanted to research this topic because I was interested to find out how many of the ks2 children played age inappropriate video games. Also I wanted to know if there was a difference between what genre of games boys and girls played.
3
My research involved 64 ks2 children from years 3-6 and the age range of 7-11. I gave out 64 questionnaires and received 50 back. My questionnaire had both open and closed questions. I analysed data from closed questions by counting how many times certain answers were chosen. I analysed data from open ended questions by coding them and then counting the amount of times each code appeared.

All participants had to sign a consent form. All data was kept confidential. The data was kept anonymous because no names were written on the questionnaires.

I feel my research went very well as I got a high number of questionnaires back. I was surprised at the number of children that actually play age inappropriate video games. However I wasn't surprised that more boys play age inappropriate games than girls. I think my project was successful because I used different ages and genders therefore I received a wider range of responses.

If I did my project again I would use the interview technique. I would also change some of the questions as I feel some children found some on my questionnaire confusing. I would also use more open questions because I’d get more detailed answers.
