1 GRADING RUBRIC 2014 TRIAL OF GENGHIS KHAN

2 GENERAL INFORMATION This mini-project will count as a test grade for each student. Please come to class prepared. If you are absent on the day of the trial, you will be required to turn in all pre-trial assignments (attorneys: opening/closing statements, questions for witnesses; witnesses: research in the form of a typed mini-biography, biography and anticipated questions worksheet; jury: typed research form on website with predictions). Absent students will all be required to write a 5-paragraphy essay supporting or refuting the charges in lieu of the Point of View Worksheet.

6 LATE GRADE DEDUCTIONS For a student to receive a grade on this assignment, they must turn in ALL required papers/online assignments at once. If a student does not have all of the required papers/online assignments ready, they have two choices: 1.Turn in what you have on time and receive the grade you earned. 2.Take a zero on the assignment. You know by know that late work is not accepted.

7 QUIZ GRADE: THESIS STATEMENT All students will be required to turn in a well-written thesis statement answering the question below on Friday, December 12 for up to 10 points on your Ch. 12 & 13 test grade. Question: Were Genghis Khan and his successors civilized? Remember, your thesis statement must be specific, must answer the question, and must set up a road-map for your essay. In this case, we are not writing an essay, but your thesis needs to provide evidence like you would be writing a full-out essay. In order to earn the extra points you must have your thesis written in blue or black in pen, and you must turn it in before the tardy bell rings on Friday. You may NOT type your thesis. If you copy your thesis from another student, you will not receive any bonus points, and I’ll call your mother. That would be bad.
