2 KEYBOARDING BODY BASICS  SITTING –Sit up straight with your feet on the floor.  HANDS –Keep you fingers on the home keys: a,s,d,f,j,k,l,; –Keep your hands to yourself.

3 COMPUTER CARE  Never eat or drink near the computer.  Only use your own number to log in.  Always log off when finished.  No writing on the equipment.  Wait for permission to print.

4 COMPUTER PARTS  CPU (central processing unit) - the brains of the computer  MONITOR - the screen  KEYBOARD – the instrument used for typing  MOUSE – the instrument used for moving the cursor and making choices

5 TROUBLESHOOTING  If something is not working check to see if it plugged in properly and turned on.  If the printer is not working make sure it has paper.  Check to see if you are in the right program.  Raise your hand and ask for help.

7 ENEMIES AND BAD GUYS While on the internet be aware of…  VIRUSES  WORMS  SPYWARE  POPUP WINDOWS ***If you are unsure about an ad, icon, or link, don’t click on it without checking with an adult. ***These can all slow down, harm, or crash your system. Your personal information could also be at risk.

8 INTERNET SAFETY  If you come to a site that is inappropriate you should… –Click the home icon –Turn off the monitor –Notify an adult  Some sites are blocked or filtered for your safety or due to inappropriate material.
