KEYBOARDING BODY BASICS SITTING –Sit up straight with your feet on the floor. HANDS –Keep you fingers on the home keys: a,s,d,f,j,k,l,; –Keep your hands to yourself.

COMPUTER CARE Never eat or drink near the computer. Only use your own number to log in. Always log off when finished. No writing on the equipment. Wait for permission to print.

COMPUTER PARTS CPU (central processing unit) - the brains of the computer MONITOR - the screen KEYBOARD – the instrument used for typing MOUSE – the instrument used for moving the cursor and making choices

TROUBLESHOOTING If something is not working check to see if it plugged in properly and turned on. If the printer is not working make sure it has paper. Check to see if you are in the right program. Raise your hand and ask for help.

ENEMIES AND BAD GUYS While on the internet be aware of… VIRUSES WORMS SPYWARE POPUP WINDOWS ***If you are unsure about an ad, icon, or link, don’t click on it without checking with an adult. ***These can all slow down, harm, or crash your system. Your personal information could also be at risk.

INTERNET SAFETY If you come to a site that is inappropriate you should… –Click the home icon –Turn off the monitor –Notify an adult Some sites are blocked or filtered for your safety or due to inappropriate material.
