2 Sandy Beach Snow Farm as of Friday 2/27/15 DPW SNOWFARM STATS AS OF FRIDAY 2/27/15 DPW CREWS/CONTRACTORS TRANSPORTED OVER 2600 TRUCKLOADS OF SNOW FROM TOWN WAYS TO SANDY BEACH OVER 37,000 CUBIC YARDS WEIGHING OVER 10,000 TONS SNOW TRANSPORT OPERATIONS CONTINUE

3 Total January Overtime Hours per unit= 88 O.T. Hours Total February Overtime Hours per unit = 214 O.T. Hours Total Overtime Hours Between January 24 th and February 25 th = 302 O.T. Hours per man DPW has received 1000 tons of salt this winter Typical cap is 750 tons/ year

6 Phone Calls The Department of Public Works received just under 600 phone calls from residents requesting plowing, road widening and scraping, sanding, salting, and numerous other services between the dates of January 28 th – February 23rd There was a slight trend that private ways made more phone calls rather than public and accepted roads.

7 SCHOOL ROOF SNOW REMOVAL Engineering monitoring roofs since the first blizzard JANUARY 24 TH 2015 Week of Feb 2 nd received 3 snow removal quotes from vendors in the event action was necessary After 2 additional storms decided that the roofs were operating into the factor of safety for roof loading 2/10 – 2/18 - Contractors removed Approximately 840 Tons of Snow from areas of Schools roofs 560 Tons of snow from the Osgood School Roof 280 tons from the Middle School Roof Result was that NO school days were lost due to concerns over roof snow loads, and no damage was sustained MIAA giving insurance credit for pro-active roof snow removal

8 SNOW & ICE TOTALS TO DATE 3/3/2015 Expenditures ~ $440,000 to date Average winter expenditures ~ $250,000 Initial focus on widening main arteries and safe routes to schools Widening collector roads Major Intersections bank removal Left hand bank reduction Sidewalks Village business district snow removal Clearing paths to hydrants Clearing paths to catchbasins Spring is coming questions
