28 countries from North America and Europe signed the North Atlantic Treaty on April 4th 1949.

North Atlantic Treaty Treaty designed to protect freedom of the north Atlantic community It was also designed to encourage political, economic and social cooperation between the 28 countries All of the countries are democratic

Why was NATO Created? The allies were convinced that military and economic support was needed to remain free because of the Berlin blockade Before Stalin could remove the blockade, the United States, Canada, and ten European countries formed NATO Since then, the other countries have joined

Warsaw Pact In May 1955, the U.S.S.R. made the Warsaw Treaty in response to NATO It was 'The Treaty of Friendship, Co-operation and Mutual Assistance‘ All of the countries were communists
