النون الساكنة is a noon that does not have any vowel on it (i.e. No dhammah, no kesrah and no fetha) Occurs in nouns, verbs and prepositions. Occurs in the middle and end of the word Pronounced when continuing AND when stopping. It is written and pronounced. النُّونُ السَّاكِنَةُ

It looks like this: نۡ or ن For example: ﴿ مَنۡ ءَامَنَ ﴾ ﴿ مِنۡ ءَالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ ﴾ ﴿ مِن رَّبِّ رَّحِيمٍ ﴾ النُّونُ السَّاكِنَةُ

التَّنوينُ is an extra noon that is not used for emphasise. Occurs in nouns only. Occurs at the end of the word only. It is NOT written and pronounced when continuing only. When stopping at it, it is either dropped or changed to an alif with a stretch of 2 counts. التَّنوينُ

It can be تنوين الفتح ( ً ) or تنوين الكسر ( ٍ ) or تنوين الضم ( ٌ ) For example: ﴿ تِجِارَةً حَاضِرَةً تُدِرُونَهَا ﴾ ﴿ سَلامٌ هِيَ....﴾ ﴿ مِن أَيِّ شَيءٍ خَلَقَهُ ﴾ التَّنوينُ
