SCIENCE CATEGORY NOTES l Judge unattended projects. But they are only eligible for Science Category Honorable Mentions l GREEN dot projects passed ISEF rules l RED dot projects failed ISEF rules. SPECIAL AWARD JUDGING l No restrictions on which projects may receive Special Awards l Special Award organizations use their own judging criteria l Results due by 1:00 pm at the Special Awards desk

JUDGING TEAM PROJECTS l Two or three students in a Team. l Include all members in the interview to ensure each contributed to the project. l Final work should reflect the co- ordinated efforts of all team members. l Category Judges – note different ISEF scoring Use BLUE scoresheets Use BLUE scoresheets

Judging “DOs” l Discuss the project with the student. l Only one Judge at a project at one time l Budget 8-10 minutes for each project. l Complete notes, evaluations & scoring away from the student. l Remember your interview is a memorable experience for the student.

JUDGING “DON’Ts” l Ask about parents or school l Judge someone you know l Fill out forms in front of the student l Discuss your judging process with students/parents/teachers later students/parents/teachers later

BE SENSITIVE! l Consider the age and maturity of the student. l Be aware of the student’s knowledge level. l Be respectful : please discuss, not lecture, in your interview. l Remember this is serious competition for them.
