7 Instructional Technology Service Large Format Printing Scanning Images  Scanned images composed of tiny pixels  Number of pixels in an inch determine resolution.  Resolution expressed in DPI or dots per inch  Also referred to as PPI or pixels per inch  More pixels or dots per inch equal higher resolution.  When image is scanned then resized, dots become larger. Image becomes grainy or blocky.

8 Instructional Technology Service Large Format Printing Scanning Images  Minimum DPI for poster images at final size is 150.  When scanning images that will be rescaled, scan at higher dpi.  Final DPI is a factor of final rescale of image.  Image rescaled by 10 X, original must be scanned at 10 X.

16 Instructional Technology Service Large Format Printing Scheduling the Appointment  Call ITS at 470-6727  Office Hours 8 AM – Noon / 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM  1 Hour minimum to print at poster. No poster printing started after 4:00 PM.  Have Research or State account # and account administrators name ready.

17 Instructional Technology Service Large Format Printing When you print  Sign in at the front desk.  Assistant will assign you an appropriate workstation.  Specify type of paper and size to the assistant.  Check over your poster before printing.  Print poster.  Allow poster at least 12 hours to dry.

21 Instructional Technology Service Large Format Printing Special Considerations  When printing poster select default “print to computer” option.  Plotter is 36 inches wide. Format poster accordingly  Standard Bond Paper  Won’t Cut until the paper is dried. Drying time is 1 min.  Final copy only.  College business only.
