3. Why Does JSETS Exist? All 406 MHz emergency beacons must be registered
DoD decided to maintain their own registration database
Original concept included visibility into JSETS from the USMCC
Capability was never developed

Registration info on USMCC alert message says “See JSETS” (usually in Owner name)
Alert message for an USA coded beacon that is not registered

6. JSETS/USMCC Limitations
The USMCC has no visibility into JSETS (only accessible from “.mil” sites)
JSETS contains a number of beacons that the USMCC is not aware of because they do not fall into “special programs”
USMCC in no way guarantees the accuracy of information in the JSETS database
