4 Your Linkedin profile is a “Digital Resume Summary” It is important to highlight your experience, skills, expertise, awards, and education. Do not copy and paste your resume details as some of the content from your current or previous employer may be confidential. Also, you want to have something to discuss when you meet with your prospective employer.

6 Once you list your skills, coworkers, colleagues, etc, can endorse you. This example shows that 49 People have endorse this individual for Trade Marketing, followed by Consumer Products, and Product Development. Recruiters, HR Managers, prospective employers can take a quick glance at a candidates strengths, areas of expertise to determine if they fit a job they have open.

8 Building Your Network

9 Build your network by finding Contacts and Alumni. You can use the search window to find specific people. You can add classmates, colleagues, friends, coworkers, and Recruiters

10 Job Search Function

11 The basic Job Search function on Linkedin is confidential, free, and easy to use.

12 You can search using Keywords within a geographical location. I typed in Consumer Products as an example You can filter based on specific criteria – Location, Industry, Job Type You can select the industry as well as the job type you are interested in. You can SAVE your search criteria for future or frequent use

13 Below is an example of jobs that are posted within Linkedin that fit your specific search criteria Once your search criteria is set, you will find a list of open jobs that match your search each time you visit the Job tab of your profile. This section gives you an idea of all the jobs available within your “network”. Meaning, you may have a friend or colleague that works at a company that has a job opening. For example, Reckitt Benckiser has 57 Jobs open.

15 Interested in a specific Company? You can connect with them via Linkedin Interests Tab

16 For this example, L’Oreal was selected. You can “FOLLOW” L’Oreal and have access to their Linkedin Page that posts News Updates, Jobs, etc. Linkedin will tell show who in your network you are already connected to who could help get you in touch with the Company.

17 Once you find a job you want to apply to, you can apply instantly or save the job for later. Linkedin will tell show who in your network you are already connected to who could help get you in touch with the Company. Linkedin will also show you jobs that are very similar to the one you are applying to. Once again, it shows you who you might know or are already connected to at a specific company you are applying to.

18 Some companies allow you to APPLY NOW, while others require you to apply directly on the company webpage

19 When you are able to apply within Linkedin, a pop-up window will appear that allows you to attach Cover Letter and Resume.

20 You can keep track of the jobs you saved, applied, etc.

21 Join Groups

22 Search for and join Groups that best fit what you are looking for. Group members can then interact with you and give you visibility to job postings, discussion boards, etc. If you want a career in CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods), Wine and Spirits, Candy/Snacks, there are a number of groups out there. You can also connect with Drew Classmates, or find a group with jobs in a specific geography
