It is important to note here that water should never be added to concentrated acid. The large amount of heat generated could cause the acid to splash.

Remember—Always add acid to water, not the other way around! And it must be done slowly!

Also, any work with concentrated acids must be done in a fume hood, and the person must wear a lab apron, chemical resistant gloves, and approved eye protection!
