Limits The following are commonly used limits in Economic Development: Minimum/Maximum funding Return on Investment to Taxpayers Job Quality (retail jobs may not have benefits and may be lower wages) “Multiplier Effect” Note: Other Non-Economic Development programs frequently use Income level for eligibility

9. Data Collection WHY? To tell citizens the investment is working To provide elected officials with real numbers of how the program addressed the problem To help get future funding To use a “best practice” for other peers to help the areas where they work

10. Program Changes Evaluate the program- what parts could be changed to improve performance? It’s not your baby, so don’t take constructive criticism negatively Changes could make it better! The best technicians adapt to market changes and constructive criticism to tweak programs to really address issues Ideal world vs. Real world- let’s face it, we don’t work in an ideal world!
