3 APD – a snapshot Started in 1959, APD works for People with Disability (PWD), in the age group of 0 to 35 years, Enable them go mainstream – impart skills to be functionally and financially independent. Origin and Mission 30,000 PWDs (2013-14) Endeavour - Build capacity to reach another 18 k beneficiaries (2013-2014) Benefitted over 400,000 over the years Impact 250 full time staff 15 Campuses/locations 21 Districts (Network) Outreach offices in Davangere, Bijapur & Chikkaballapur Presence

6 Context 84,382 are children with disability (Bangalore -8 Zones and 198 Wards) Bangalore east zone 9240 CWD (45 Wards) Schools not equipped to handle CWD/Refuse to Admit CWSD may require more assistance and more supervision of their daily needs which lacks in regular school Most parents cannot bear the extra costs such as special diets, transportation, disable friendly transport, recreation, medical care, aids and appliances etc. High Dropout rate in mainstream Schools (Only 17% Appear for SSLC Exam) Approximately 15000 CWD were age-eligible for SSLC examinations, around 2600 appeared for the board examinations last year, with a pass percentage of under 50%.

7 APD’s –Shradhanjali Integrated School Pioneer in Inclusive Education – Since 1973 Caters to Children with Loco motor/Speech and hearing impaired/ Cerebral palsy disability. Schooling capacity of 200 children from Kindergarten to 7 th Grade State SSLC Syllabus, Tata Interactive Class, Multi sensory methodology and E-lessons for more effective learning. Extra curricula activities. - opportunities for the children with Cerebral Palsy, Hearing Impaired & Severe Physical Disabilities Training to parents and Siblings-Therapy, Sign Language imparting independent living skills, preparing and using learning materials to manage their children at home. Trained Staff - teaching methods that are designed to overcome the challenges of each child’s unique disabilitySustainable Model - A model for government and Private Schools to adopt

8 Activities::Holistic Development Coordinate with the early intervention unit to get the list of children to be enrolled. Individual Teaching methods are designed to overcome the challenges of each child’s unique disability Events and programs to nurture the extracurricular activities. Conduct training for parents to enhance skills in managing disability and educational needs of their children. Nutritious mid day meal, Transport, Therapy & Mobility aids are provided.
