1. Science Textbook Adoption: K-6 Science The K-6 Science Adoption Committee evaluated several textbooks, piloted the top two, and conducted a side-by-side standards sampling. They have recommended California Science, Scott Foresman (Pearson) which was subsequently approved by Curriculum Council on 3/13/08. 6. Piloting Process Teachers pilot for two quarters. Each teacher communicates on a regular basis with a partner who pilots the other publisher. All piloting teachers come together periodically, calibrate their numbers, and hand in individual scores.

The texts from the two publishers were evaluated comparatively in a side-by-side manner. Content and assessment were the two categories evaluated.
