2 Duke Cancer Center Facility Rationale & Overview Project Summary Transform the treatment experience of patients with cancer, and their loved ones, by creating an environment that is supportive of patient healing, patient convenience, patient education and resource accessibility, and state-of-the-art medical care Consolidate outpatient cancer services from around the medical center into a multidisciplinary, patient-focused facility Address market forecast for future significant increases in local, regional and statewide cancer incidence, and corresponding demand for new patient and survivorship services Foster new synergies in patient treatment and clinical research as a result of bringing together the many specialty services involved in clinical cancer care and clinical research Create a technologically superior facility that will optimize the ability of faculty and staff to deliver high quality, innovative and compassionate care to patients

4 Level 00 Radiation Oncology 3 incremental linear accelerators 19 exam rooms Host/resource station with refreshments and computers for patients and families The current Radiation Oncology Clinic, in the Morris Cancer Clinics, will be renovated and connect to this floor in the new Cancer Center facility. The renovated space is projected to open late 2012. The current Radiation Oncology Clinic will be expanded by connecting to this new space.

5 Level 0 Lobby Reception and patient registration desk Fireplace with seating Large seating area near windows and five- story atrium Café with indoor/outdoor seating Conference room for patient use and cancer support group meetings and activities Main Lobby Atrium The lobby will welcome patients, families and staff into a light-filled, open space.

6 Patient and family resource center with educational materials, computer kiosks and a skills lab for individual patient and family consultation Boutique with consultation rooms, two styling stations and a dressing room Quiet room for meditation and reflection Retail pharmacy Labs -- blood draw and port draw Level 0 (continued) Main Floor Quiet Room The main floor will feature areas designed to address the emotional and physical needs of patients and their families.

Conference room This clinical floor will facilitate the delivery of multidisciplinary patient care by faculty and staff teams. A mammography suite will bring together all the clinical services for breast and gynecology cancer patients. Seating Area

Conference room This clinical floor will bring several oncology services side-by-side to allow faculty and staff to continue providing the best care possible for their patients.
