4. History  The town was founded probably in the end of the 12 th century.  The first written record comes from a document by Queen Guta of Habsburg and dates back to August 1, 1293.  (The town of Guta is in Czech called Jitšino město)

5. Albrecht of Wallenstein  The most famous period of Jičín was between 1620 – 1634.  At that time Jičín became a residence of Duke Albrecht of Wallenstein.  The duchy was a state within a state.
