Włodzimierz Łuczyński, MD, PhD, is Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Endocrinology, Diabetology with Cardiology Division, Medical University of Białystok, Poland. For the first ten years he worked as pediatric oncologist in Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. He received PhD in Białystok, topic: „Immunologic monitoring in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia”. Then he started his scientific projects concerned the model of immunotherapy of leukemias in children. He received few grants from Polish goverment in this field. In 2005 he acomplished the specialty in pediatrics. Then he moved to 2nd Department of Pediatrics and switched his interest into diabetology and obesity. He started the speciality of diabetology in children. The department was reorganized into Department of Pediatrics, Endocrinology, Diabetology with Cardiology Division with main interest in type 1 diabetes and obesity in children. He focused on immunologic and genetic aspects of diabetes and obesity. Dr Włodzimierz Łuczyński accomplished diabetology in 2012. Awarded as Professor in 2014 by President of Republic of Poland. Prof. Łuczyński published over 80 articles to professional medical journals with peer-review. In addition he attended more than 80 national and international scientific meetings. He received many honor and awards including prizes from polish goverment and rector of Medical University in Białystok. Prof. Łuczyński is serving as Editorial board member of 3 international journals. In the years of 2009-2011 he was a member of Polish Academy of Science – The Commitee of Immunology and Etiology of Human Infections, Commision of Immunoprophylactics. His research interest includes cardiovascular risk factors in children, immunotherapy of obesity and diabetes, genetic factors of overweight/obesity in children. Prof. Włodzimierz Łuczyński, Poland
