District Goals: Managing a Critical Incident Ensure safety of students, faculty, and staff. Protect district property. Stabilize and resolve the incident whenever possible. 7 OBTAIN FACTS: Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How? CALL FIRE CHIEF - POLICE 111-1111 222-2222 Your name & current location Nature and location of the incident Severity of injuries or property damage Telephone numbers as call back Safety Officer Notified THREAT LEVEL IMPLEMENTED AS DIRECTED BY SUPERINTENDENT (IC). DIRECT PUBLIC SAFETY RESPONDERS TO THE SCENE ONLY IF NO OTHER OFFICIAL HAS ARRIVED. SEE REVERSE FOR TYPE OF RESPONSE. CALL SUPERINTENDENT (IC) - 000-0000 DETERMINES THREAT LEVEL LEVEL I – MONITOR No immediate danger or emergency exits, but potential is present; a minor incident of short duration (limited in scope and managed by the administrator). LEVEL II – STANDBY The potential danger is real, may expand beyond a limited area, may continue for a duration, resolution may require more than the building administrator. LEVEL III – EMERGENCY People are in danger and/or facilities are at risk. The situation requires immediate action and coordination of resources beyond the building level. Lockdown Procedures Students, staff, and visitors are to remain in their classrooms or any other assigned areas until the procedure is announced as “completed.” No one is to be in the hallways during this procedure for any reason. If you are not in a room, return immediately to the room and teacher that gave you a pass. If you and your class are outside at this time, you and your class must remain outside until the procedure is announced as “completed.” All instruction must stop until notified by the main office that the lockdown procedure is over. Do not use any electronic devices such as a computer, t.v., radio, or cell phone. Teachers should close and lock their classroom doors and move students away from windows and doors. 11 Safe Harbor - Safe Schools, LLC - all rights reserved 2012

Lockdown Procedures Everyone will remain in his or her rooms until the drill is announced as “completed.” Students must follow their teachers’ directions. Teachers should not open or close the shades, and the lights should be left on during the procedure. Disregard any bells that may ring.No one may use the public address call box.
