Researching a Topic on Samlib.com : The Medical Library Gateway

Our Research Topic/Scenario I was told by a colleague that there are portable units and/or methods for clinically assessing a patient for Obstructive Sleep Apnea in their home outside the sleep lab setting. I know a little bit about Sleep Apnea but I need to have a stronger foundation. Then I want to see what the literature reports on these portable units. Where else can I look for information geared to the clinician while seeing what information there is for the layperson? Choose a Textbook and Click on it Goldman: Cecil Medicine will be our choice to search for Obstructive Sleep Apnea. It is one of many textbooks in available in MDConsult.

Search within the book From this textbook we can get just what we need, an overview of the topic. Notice the highlighted terms we used to search the textbook.

Simple Keyword Search of the Current Literature in PubMed The total number of results have dropped to 28. Default for: Display is Summary, Show is 20, and Sort By has to be chosen by user.

Simple Keyword Search of the Current Literature in PubMed Unless you are looking for a specific article, the Display Format of Abstract, AbstractPlus, or Citation provide a synopsis of an article.

Simple Keyword Search of the Current Literature in PubMed There are 28 documents to view, the Show default is 20, click on it and choose the next number up which is 50, to view them on one page.

Simple Keyword Search of the Current Literature in PubMed We can now view all the results on the same page, read Abstracts if available, and in chronological order if you choose Sort by Pub Date.
