For a performer, your ‘role’ can often be looked upon as your position within the team i.e. goalkeeper, left back, right wing, line player.
For a team to work to its full potential, members of the team must know what their role/position.

It is essential that everyone in your team has a firm knowledge of what they are supposed to be doing when your team is defending, in transition between defence and attack, and also in attack itself.
Each person must also have a good knowledge of what other peoples roles and responsibilities are.
By knowing this, you will not only know your own role but how that fits into the whole picture to get the very best out of your team.

In a directly competitive team activity like handball there are many things that are unpredictable and performers must react and change their plan many times in a single performance but having a set plan will make the job of adapting much easier.
