1 Social Factor Roles and Responsibilities
Handball

2 What are roles and responsibilities?
Common roles are performer, captain, coach, referee, time keeper etc. For a performer, your ‘role’ can often be looked upon as your position within the team i.e. goalkeeper, left back, right wing, line player. For a team to work to its full potential, members of the team must know what their role/position.

3 What are roles and responsibilities?
Responsibilities are the jobs that you must carry out for the position that you are playing. This applies to defence, transition, and attack Your main responsibilities will depend on many things The structure your team is applying in defence The structure/strategies your team is applying in attack Personal strengths and weaknesses within your team i.e. height or speed

4 What’s so important about roles and responsibilities?
It is essential that everyone in your team has a firm knowledge of what they are supposed to be doing when your team is defending, in transition between defence and attack, and also in attack itself. Each person must also have a good knowledge of what other peoples roles and responsibilities are. By knowing this, you will not only know your own role but how that fits into the whole picture to get the very best out of your team.

5 Continued…. Knowing roles and responsibilities is to have a plan of what you would like to do. If you fail to prepare then you should be prepared to fail. In a directly competitive team activity like handball there are many things that are unpredictable and performers must react and change their plan many times in a single performance but having a set plan will make the job of adapting much easier.

Positively In defence In transition In attack When we need to change from one structure/strategy to another
