Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Team & Group Work: O verview: I have found through over 6 years of experience that working in team groups can helps students to maximize their classroom learning opportunity and experience. In most group work situations, lot of relaxed sharing and trust building happens. For a team to work productively, the team leader is more of a facilitator dealing with human interactions and as a time keeper rather than being an experts on the class subject matter.

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Team & Group Work: T eam Leader: An Art 115 student with previous class process experience can be a very effectively Art 114 team leader. Current Art 114 student can also be a good team leader if that person has strong people skills. Following precise assignment requirements will be very important for every student in the class. But the team leader is required to be particularly skillful at following and giving detailed directions. Worst reason for volunteering as a team leader is to earn higher grade!

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Team & Group Work: T eam Creation:1 of 3 Each of the three (3) team leaders will introduce themselves to the class. The brief (60 seconds) self intro will focus on their strong suit which might be doing photography, working with computers, solid design sense, and/or strong story telling skills. In the self introduction process, the team leader will state their full name and describe their digital camera by brand, model, and type. It is also acceptable just to hold up your camera. Then talk about your strong suite. Close your presentation by inviting students to join your team…

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Team & Group Work: T eam Creation: 2 of 3 After the team leader intros, I will assign them to room corners A, B, and C. Once that is done, please join the team of your choice. Please trust yourself on this. This will be the first of many ‘choices’ that you will be making in this class. If you have no clue, choose a team leader that has your type or brand of camera. Or you just liked that person or their presentation. Maybe the team leader has the same hair color as yours. Any reason that makes sense to you will do...

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Team & Group Work: T eam Creation: 3 of 3 There is a maximum number to any team and it’s based the number of students in the class. The chart below shows the breakdown: _______________________________________Members 6 (maximum 7) 5 (maximum 6) 7 (maximum 7) 6 (maximum 7) Students242018161412Teams433322

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Team & Group Work: T eam Activity: 1 of 2 1.Create a team contact list and distribute it. Use Microsoft Word™ to create the list. Make sure to put a copy of the file on the team USB storage device. 2.Go to the Library and check out the Photography Show. The mounted prints were created by the previous class. I expect this class to produce a similar show by the end of this quarter.

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Team & Group Work: T eam Activity: 2 of 2 3.View all the images but settle on one image for team study and quiet team discussion about: Pro – something that worked Con – something that was problematic Conclusion – constructive solution to the Con 4.Back in the class room, one team member will present the PCC (Pro, Con, and Conclusion) to the whole class. The Presentation must be short and to the point (don’t ramble). 1 to 2 minutes should be sufficient and that include the Q&A that follows each Presentation
