Is it Art? What do you see?

Biography Carl Warner is a photographer from Liverpool, England. He originally wanted to be an illustrator, but found that he was more interested in photography and advertising. He especially likes to photograph landscapes.

Warner began photographing “foodscapes” about 10 years ago. In 2008 his work was featured in The Sunday Times. His work became very popular around the world.

Warner spends a lot of time planning each piece of work. He draws out his ideas and works with a team to create the scene in his London studio. He spends a lot of time in supermarkets staring at fruits and vegetables because everything has to be the perfect shape for his art.

The Process Warner spends one to three days building and photographing the “foodscapes”.

Why do you think he only spends one to three days photographing one “foodscape”?

Books Carl Warner has published two books with his artwork. He likes to use his artwork to promote healthy eating to young children.

International He creates “foodscapes” of famous cities like Paris…

International Sometimes he creates a “foodscape” of a specific country using the traditional food from that country. For example: This is a scene of a ‘Chinese junk boat’ made of all Asian ingredients. This photo includes: Broccoli, Bok Choy, dry noodles, baby squid, lentils and a fortune cookie.

Some people really like his art and like to use it for advertising.

Other people do not like his art because he wastes a lot of food.
