In the year 2003 the management started to acknowledge the need for an integrated management system for all companies with specific characteristics. Before this moment an AS/400 system had been applied, stable but rather inflexible. “The problems were mainly connected with the possibility to carry out modifications, personalisation or to work on the graphic interface. Furthermore the auxiliary tools’ compatibility was scarce, such as the Microsoft’s Office. As far as the administrative-commercial part was concerned the situation was completely under control, because the workflow had been standardised and consolidated, while when we were looking at the production environment, where every reality has its particularities, we could see the necessity for change.” says Michele Cicognani, Lavorazione Plastica’s CEO.
