¿Qué son los mandatos? What is a command? –When you tell someone to do an action or not to do an action. –Commands are actions you tell someone to do now, in the PRESENT. –For example: Jump, don’t jump, talk, don’t talk, etc. Commands are something you tell someone to do now, in the PRESENT.

Mandatos familiares afirmativos Commands can be affirmative(positive) –They tell someone to do an action: Sit, Go, Run. Or they can be negative. –They tell someone not to do an action: Don’t sit, Don’t go, Don’t run. Commands can be familiar/informal(talking to tú) or formal(talking to usted).

Mandatos familiares afirmativos To form an affirmative familiar command (talking to tú) you follow two steps: 1.Conjugate the verb to the tú form - tomar(to take) tú tomas(you take) 2. Drop the –s from the verb. - tú tomas(you take) toma(take)

Mandatos familiares afirmativos You may have noticed that if you drop the –r off of the infinitive you have the command. –Hablar (habla) –Comer (come) Be careful. This does not work for –IR verbs. –-IR verbs follow –er verb endings. That’s why the first step is to form the tú form and THEN drop the –s.

En parejas (In Pairs) With your partner make up a mini coversation. Student 1: Say you need to do an activity or chore. Use vocabulary that you know. Student 2: Using a positive command, tell student 1 to do the activity he needs to do. Write conversation on paper when finished. We will use this paper again.
