3 What is BYOD?  The goal is to allow teachers and students to work and learn together in a technology environment.  Students will be allowed to bring their own devices to use during for assignments.

5 Teachers Will:  Model safe use of internet and devices  Use BYOD in their classroom to allow students to use devices during instruction (as needed).  Use signs for BYOD days Use signs for BYOD days  Actively monitor students and device use  Halls  Restrooms  Classrooms  Designated Areas (BYOD room, Library)  Share cool Apps and Web tools

7 Students Will:  Be good digital citizens  Use technology for instructional purposes only  Signed agreement returned to school  Understand consequences associated with improper use of devices  Learn and use virtual desktop

8 BYOD GUIDELINES: Students are not required to participate. Device should be clearly labeled (Full Name). Device should be charged prior to bringing to school. Student is responsible for personal property. School cannot be responsible for lost/stolen/damaged personal property. Students may not share devices.

9 BYOD Consequences: Minor offenses 1 st Offense – Loss of privilege for 1 week & Friday detention 2 nd Offense – Loss of privilege for 1 semester & 3 days of I.S.S. 3 rd Offense – Loss of privilege for remainder of school year & 5 days of I.S.S. Major offenses Follow student code of conduct & acceptable use policy.  Minor: Using device at wrong time or place, touching someone’s device, texting, & etc.  Major: damaging someone’s device, taking or posting pictures, & etc.  Safety and privacy concerns

10 BYOD Consequences: Cell phones are still cell phones If it is not a BYOD time the rules still apply If we See it Or Hear it We Take it & it will cost $15

11 BYOD Reminders: Review BYOD agreement with teachers and parents. Get agreements signed before you bring devices. School cannot be responsible for lost/stolen/damaged personal property. Label your device
