History: Island County Community Health Advisory Board (CHAB) The [Community Health] Advisory Board shall assess the needs of community services... for local public health, develop policies and procedures by which Island County can address those needs, and assist in assuring the needs identified are met for citizens of Island County. (Island County Ordinance 8.13.020, 1992)

Mission Statement... to assist the Board of Health in maintaining the physical, mental, and social well-being of Island County residents.... basic tasks will be to: Provide for communication between Island County Board of Health and the community at large. Identify community health care needs based on current data and testimony. Set priorities based on these factors to assure present and future health of the county’s population. Formulate recommendations, action plans, and policy to the Board of Health for implementation. Evaluate the impact of enacted policies and programs on our communities.
