Dress Code The goal of the Appoquinimink School District is to create an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for an educational setting. The following conditions have been adopted for students attending school in our district . Items of clothing not specifically covered can be prohibited at the discretion of the administration.

All clothing must be neat, clean, and in a condition of good repair.

Dress Code Headwear of any type may not be worn-male and female. The only exception is for documented religious or medical reasons. The following are not acceptable.

Dress Code Outer wear is not permitted while in the building.

Dress Code Shorts and skirts are acceptable attire; however, the length must be at the knee from the front, side and back view.

All shirts must cover shoulders, cleavage, stomach, and back.

Dress Code Footwear must be worn at all times.

Dress Code Clothing must be worn as intended. Pants are to be pulled up and secured at the waist. Visible holes above the knee that expose skin are not permitted. Excessively tight clothing is not permitted.

Dress Code No undergarments or clothing designed to be worn as undergarments may be visible at any time. Students may not wear any garment that would be considered a distraction.

Dress Code Apparel that advertises, glorifies, and symbolizes any illegal substances or any substances illegal to minors, contains derogatory phrases, profanity, or glorifies violence or criminal behavior are not permitted to be worn.

Dress Code Students may not wear lewd, suggestive, or excessively tight clothing with writing on the buttocks, spiked jewelry, or long chains.

Dress Code Violation of Dress Code (S0291): students are required to adhere to the dress code that is outlined in Chapter 2: Student Rights and Responsibilities. When a student is in violation, he/she will be required to change into acceptable attire.

Required: Reprimand and/or detention Parent/guardian notification Subsequent Offenses Detention and/or suspension (1 – 3 days) Parent/guardian conference
