1
The Russells enjoyed a round of golf at Wanaka Golf Club one sunny day in January 2010.
2
The Wanaka Club sits on a high bluff above the town of Wanaka. Undulating fairways bordered with nice trees made the beautiful course a challenge to play.
3
The backdrop for Judy at this hole was incredible—Lake Wanaka in the foreground and snow-capped peaks in the distance.
4
The day we played, it was sunny with a light breeze: perfect conditions. And the scenery on many of the holes was amazing.
5
Some of the fairways and edges were not as green as possible; the lack of rain contributed to the course condition, we were told.
6
Most greens were in great shape—small, but nice. The pines that were on the course were in great condition.
7
Some nice flowers were on the edge of the course and added to the beauty of the scene.
8
Some views were toward the lake; others toward other mountains.
9
Of course, Bob got to experience nature—trees and bushes—as he hacked and whacked.
10
Some of the trees on the course were huge!
11
The clouds gave us a little break from the hot sun—luckily, we didn’t get rained on during our round.
12
Nice signs marked each hole (measured in meters). All the Par 3 holes had hole-in-one prizes.
13
This nice little green was guarded by a sand trap and bunches of thick trees.
14
Some of the course flora.
15
Our round of golf at Wanaka was very enjoyable; it would be a great course to play regularly.
