5 Overview of the 3 Phase Program Classroom: The State requires 30 Hours Classroom: We meet 42 Hours over the course of a semester. State Requirements Our LHS Program Simulation: The State equates one hour of simulation to 15 minutes of road time. Simulation: Our Simulation Lab provides just over 3 hours of road experience. BTW: The State requires 6 hours of driving experience. BTW: Students will receive just over 4 hours of certified instruction on the road.

6 Parents should set good examples for their teenagers since this can have a very positive influence on their driving.

7 Parent Involvement Adults need to be good role models Adults need to sit in passenger seat Must have valid drivers license Must be at least 21 years of age

9 Guidelines for Practice

10 Listed below are just a few concerns you can be sure to emphasize with them:  The enormous responsibility they have to themselves and others.  Seat belt laws  Hands at 9and 3 or 10 and 2 for proper steering  No “rolling stops” Complete stops  Always check intersections left- right-left.  Proper use of mirror and shoulder checks.  How to “communicate” with other drivers. (Turn signals, horn, brake lights, and headlights.)  Maintaining proper following distance (3+ seconds)  Defensive driving tactic.
