Solution: The Individual Ladder of Learning 5 The multigrade classroom methodology was developed 25 years ago by Rishi Valley’s Institute for rural education, which was awarded the 1st prize for “The Most Innovative Development Project” at the annual Global Development Conference in Dakar in 2004  The multigrade classrooms enable teachers to support student progress along an individual “ladder of learning”.  Children of different ages work in small groups based on their status on the ladder of learning.

8. 8 Planning for the Rural Business School (RBS) program Rural Business School (RBS) – The middle school program to empower the youth: If education is strategically designed and accessible at middle school level, children of 12-15 years old will develop the skills needed to become entrepreneurs, employees or graduates from higher education I can start and run a micro-business or get into college or learn vocational/technical skills that would help me become an empowered citizen We need a flexible curriculum and focus on three primary outcomes – Entrepreneurship, Employment and Higher Education. We also need to promote community engagement and hygiene for a safe and supportive learning environment.
