2 Mood induction There are overt and covert mood inductions: In overt mood inductions, the participants know that they have to get into a certain mood; in covert mood inductions, participants do not know anything about mood induction. © POSbase 2003

3 Mood induction The Velten technique is an overt mood induction; participants are told to read positive sentences in order to get into a positive mood or negative sentences in order to get into a negative mood. © POSbase 2003 Music can be used as overt or covert mood induction techniques; it is known that music has a better effect if it is used as overt mood induction. Film clips, describing life events, false feedback and little gifts are normally used as covert mood induction techniques.
