Anger Management Anatomy of Anger Key Definitions: anger signs: bodily sensations that indicate angry feelings. igniting event: external event that provokes (prompts) angry feelings. makes you snap (lose control) hot talk: thoughts or self-statements that serve to escalate (increase) angry feelings. (talking smack)

Anger Signs What are the bodily sensations you have when angry? Arms crossed Fists clenched Face wrinkles up -between eye brows -brows are lowered -squinting eyes Voice—loud Short of breath Heart beats faster May feel cold or hot Head or neck muscles may feel tight Knot in the stomach Feeling tense

Igniting Events What gets you hot? What makes you angry? Someone making fun of me Someone bossing me around Someone taking something without asking A person continues to annoy me after I ask them to stop Someone messing with my property When I lose something Protecting someone else When I don’t get what I want Accused of something I didn’t do Disappointment about a grade I think is unfair Bullies Back stabbing Breaking promises
