Who were the Puritans? Puritans are a group of people who wanted to escape the theocracy of the Anglican Church and the King of England.

What distinguished their faith from other of their time period?
Puritans believed that the Bible is general rule, the law.

Why did they cross the Atlantic Ocean?
They gave up on separating church and state, Separatists, wanted to establish settlement in a New World.

What were their goals? Their main goals was to “purify”, to separate the church and government., the Anglican Church of England, because of it being too “corrupted.”

Give several examples of typical Puritan beliefs.
“To live with all my might, while I do live.” To make the most out of every moment of your life. b) “Never to do anything, which I should be afraid to do, if it were the last hour of my life.” To not even try to be courageous. “Never to suffer the least motions of anger to irrational beings.” Not to take your anger out on an innocent person. In particular, how did Puritans feel about the Sabbath day?
Sabbath means Lord’s Day, Sunday Instead of going to church for a few hours, like today, they dedicated their hearts and minds to the entire day, making it a true Sabbath

The focal points or center points of Puritan Life was mainly Christianity

What sort activities were and were not acceptable to the Puritans as recreation?
- Activities that included mental centralization were acceptable, yet ones that include excitement and gambling were frowned upon.

How tolerant were the Puritans of those who differed from their norms?
- Puritans were not tolerant at all, they believe that all mankind are cursed, sinful, and are incapable of lifting the cure from themselves.
