Idea Abstract nouns cannot be seen or touched in the same way as concrete nouns such as chair, table, dog etc. Abstract nouns are ideas, feelings or qualities such as: love, hate, kindness, fear, anger, imagination, courage, intelligence, loneliness, happiness, sadness, bravery, cowardice, embarrassment, joy, beauty, ugliness, confidence, luck, misfortune, mischief, bitterness, justice, injustice, grief, boredom, cheerfulness. Write three examples on your notes.

Singular and Plural Nouns Singular noun - names one person, one place, one thing, or one idea. Plural Noun – names more than one person, place, thing, or idea.

Plural Nouns To make most nouns plural add: _s Examples: Dogs, Cats, Girls, Chairs, Pencils

Plural Nouns If a noun ends in s, ss, x, ch, or sh, add es to make it plural. Examples: Boxes, Foxes, Grasses, Churches, Bushes, Gases.

Plural Nouns If a noun ends with a consonant and y, change the y to i and add es. Baby – Babies Lady – Ladies Spy – Spies If a noun ends in a vowel and y, add s. Turkey – Turkeys Boy – Boys Toy - Toys

Proper Nouns A proper noun is a specific name of a place, a person, or a thing. The first letter of a proper noun is always represented by a capital letter. Examples: German Shepherd, Calico, Cadillac CTS, Bean Station
