4.  Some have a harder time trusting than others  Thomas: John 20:24-25  More prone to doubt is no excuse for disbelief (ex. Anger, gossip, lust, etc.)  Because we’ve been burned in the past.  2 Kings 1:9- 13 (3 rd soldier- he learned something from the past).  Because of weariness and stress during troubling times.  1 Kings 19:2-6- Elijah

5.  Problems with Theology and Doctrine  When reality doesn’t square with doctrine, this can cause major doubt! ▪ Job 4:7 ▪ Job 23:2-4  “if that is they way God is, I can’t believe in a God like that.” ▪ Exact retribution ▪ Calvinism

6.  Problems with sin  “People begin to compromise in their lives with sin. They make small yet persistent turns away from God and because of this, they take the exit on the road of doubt.” – Michael Patton  The deeper man gets into sin the easier it seems to repudiate faith rather than repent.  John 3:19; darkness and doubt go together.

8.  “This whole doubting things proves you aren’t really a Christian.”  Abraham: Gen. 15:5-8  David: Ps. 44:23-24  John the Baptist: Luke 7:18-20  “If I ignore this it will go away!”  This is something we need to address head on!  Gal. 6:1-2

9.  The Lord’s provision in times of doubt  Abraham 15:9-19 (God makes a covenant)  John the Baptist Luke 7:21-23 (cures and quotes)  Thomas John 20:26-27 (“reach here…”)  There is always an answer for our doubts  While we may have doubts, we mustn't give up.
