GENERAL OBJECTIVES To enrich students’ active vocabulary. To develop basic skills in English (LSRW) To strengthen the habits of thinking and reflecting.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: After reading this lesson the students will be able to: Understand the importance of writing diary. Understand the importance of writing diary. Narrate some of their personal experiences in simple English. Know the meaning and usage of some of the idioms and phrases used in the lesson. Bring out the useful human values like appreciation of peers and obeying the elders.

MOTIVATION(WARMING UP) The teacher will start a conversation with the students as : Dear Students, are we able to remember all the things every time? What do you do to avoid forgetting things? e.g. your homework.

ANNOUNCEMMENT Well students, Writing in a diary is a really strange experience for everyone. Let’s read and enjoy one of such experiences given In this lesson.

Anne Frank was given a diary on her thirteenth birthday. After careful thinking, she found her diary the “real friend” with whom she could share her experiences and feelings. She gave her diary the name “Kitty”. She recorded her family and school life experiences in her diary.

This diary became so popular that it was eventually translated from its original Dutch into many languages and became one of the world’s most widely read books. There have also been several films, television and theatrical productions, and even an opera.

The class will be divided into four heterogeneous groups. All the groups will be assigned the part of the text for silent reading. (The remaining part of the lesson can be taken up the next day ) Each group will be given activities keeping in view the previous learning level of the class.
