STEM Fair Project Project title: Lime Juice Rocket vs Lemon Juice Rocket. By: Xiani Carpenter Ms Daskivich/ Northview Elementary
2
STATEMENT QUESTION The goal of my project is to determine which fruit juice mixture will make a cork fly farthest
3
Variables: Controlled Variables: Variable that doesn’t change
Two liter soda bottle One teaspoon of Baking soda Water Corks Independent variable: Variable that’s purposely changed and tested. Lemon Juice and Lime juice Dependent variable: The measure of change observed because of the independent variable. Change will be measured by how far the corks fly.
4
Hypothesis I predict that the Lemon Juice Rocket will fly farther then the Lime Juice Rocket
5
MATERIALS -Two empty two liter soda bottles -Two corks
-Two pieces of tissue -One teaspoons of baking soda -Half an inch of Lemon and Lime juice -Water
6
Procedure 1. Fill one bottle with half an inch of Lemon Juice. 2. Fill one bottle with half an inch of Lime Juice. 3. Add water to the bottles until just under half way. 4. Wrap one teaspoon of Baking soda in a tissue and drop one into each of the bottles. 5. Secure corks in the top of the bottles and shake them up. 6. Hold bottles away from your face and wait for corks to pop out. 7. Repeat steps with each bottle 3 times.

Data/Observations

Conclusion Lemon juice wins

Research Summarize your research here in three to five bullet points:
- Lemon and Lime Juice are acidic fruit - Lemon Juice is one percent more acidic then Lime Juice. - Lemon Juice combined with Baking soda produces more carbon dioxide gas the Lime Juice and Baking soda
