Worried that she didn’t have enough food, she returned to the store and purchased an additional 3 pounds of chicken. How much did she pay for the extra 3 pounds of chicken? Write a verbal model of what you are comparing. Substitute in the values you are given. Use x to represent the quantity that you are looking for. x = Cost of 3 pounds of chicken Solve the proportion using cross products. Mary paid $6.57 for 3 pounds of chicken.
