2. Unit Summary Self Discipline Among Children: It is the practice of training of people to obey rules or code of behaviour. Children during early years find it difficult to obey a proper code of conduct and thus misbehave knowingly or unknowingly. For this purpose role of the teacher,to develop self discipline amongst children is most critical. In order to develop this high order quality amongst children teacher may plan various types of activities where hildren can play the role of being an active participant as a analysist and developer. To achieve this purpose variety of activities can be utilized constructively in workplace such as a survey for fact finding of the root cause of misbehaviours in the workplace, a proposal by the children about self restrain, designing and implementing a programme of achieveing self discipline etc. Out of the two major kinds of discipline i.e. self and imposed children will learn the best code of conduct that can bring a positive, life long and persistent change in behaviour of the children where the environment is free of imposed discipline. It will have ongoing impact where children will conduct awareness programme for other children and healthy competitions will lead to an environment which will bring long lasting character building affects amongst youth of new generation. 4. Maintaining Self Discipline Amongst Children Project This project will help my students develop 21 st century skills by: Collaborating with peers. Analyzing data about the existing discipline of the school drawing conclusions to answer Unit Questions Solving problems and making decisions about the roles and responsibilities of the council. Communicating with others and making strategies for effective implementation.

5. Gauging Student Needs Assessment Purpose of the Assessment To gather information about what students already know and what they wonder about self discipline. What I want to learn from my students? I want to find out what they already know about the Unit Questions and what they know about setting up their own council. How I have tried to promote higher-order thinking? I ask students to find and draw conclusions about maintaining self discipline in school. How the assessment information helps me and my students plan for upcoming activities in the unit? If students have misconceptions about how to plan and implement their strategies regarding maintaining self discipline, I can provide scaffolds. If students have different levels of understanding about the importance of self discipline, I can provide various resources. We will have on going awareness sessions throughout the unit for students to add their knowledge. What feedback or additional ideas I’d like? I would like help on unit work. I think I need to elicit more higher-order thinking where children can work more independently.
