De = of, from, about He is Katie’s grandpa.
The ‘s is not used in Spanish; instead it is replaced with “de” Es el abuelo de Katie. (He is the grandpa of Katie)

Comparatives Used to compare at least two people or things.
When an adjective to compare, the adjective must agree with the first noun being compared. In English we use more, less, as or add an – er to the end of an adjective to compare. In Spanish, use the following phrases…

Comparative Phrases w/adjectives
Más…que = more…than Menos…que = less…than Tan…como = as…as Olivia es más rubia que Anita. Note the adjective rubia agrees with the first noun, which is Olivia, a female. Mi abuelo es menos grande que mi hermano. Una manzana es tan rica como una naranja.

Comparatives w/out adjectives
Más que… = more than Menos que… = less than Tanto como… = as much as Paco le gusta ir de compras más que ir a la escuela. Me gustan los examenes menos que las pruebas. Nos gusta nadar tanto como esquiar.

Irregular comparatives
Mayor – older Menor – younger Mejor – better Peor – worse *Irregulars also agree in number with the first noun Mi hija es menor que mi hijo. Mis primos son menores que yo.
