8. The simple past tense The simple past tense describes actions or situations that began and ended in the past. I studied at a Japanese university for 3 years. I won a scholarship a year a go. 9. How to form questions in the past tense 1) yes/No questions Did + subject + v (simple form) + complement. Examples: He studied math last semester. Did he study math last semester?
