Definition ‘A social enterprise is a BUSINESS with PRIMARILY SOCIAL OBJECTIVES whose surpluses are PRINCIPALLY REINVESTED for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners' (DTI, 2002).

What does Social Enterprise look like? Many different shapes, sizes and sectors Social goals and objectives A business selling products or services Principle activity focusses on “trade” Aligning social and commercial objectives Profits and surpluses reinvested Assets held for the benefit of the community

READ THE GUIDELINES Make sure you and your proposal are ELIGIBLE Make sure you have filled in the APPLICATION FORM and FINANCIAL SPREADSHEET Submit the Application Form and Financial Spreadsheet by the deadline - 21 st AUGUST 2013 FILL IN ALL THE SECTIONS - we will not ask you twice Use the CHECKLIST at the end of the Application Form Stick to the number of words Ensure you have SIGNED the forms SEF APPLICATION FORM
