16 AIXM Operational Perspectives
Airports GIS (AGIS) I will provide a description of the objectives and operational concepts of Airports GIS, as well as a brief description of the system, data collection guidance and standards, and the use of web services to demonstrate the capability to distribute airport data to a broad user base through OGC and AIXM web services. Once I’ve demonstrated these capabilities, I’ll provide some examples of how the development of Airports GIS and the provision of its data can be used to support operational improvements and integrate with other FAA systems. 2010 AIXM/WXXM Conference Joseph Norton, CNA April 15, 2017

Create a single integrated web application for the collection of survey data Establish guidance and standards for airport survey data collection Promote productivity and fiscal responsibility Improve existing programs – data-centric support for and production of digital products Deliver static airport information through enterprise services Airports GIS is a system for collecting, evaluating, processing, and delivering airport data and information to the FAA. AGIS will be the system that collects, evaluates, processes, and delivers airport information for the FAA. Create a single integrated web application for the collection of airport and aeronautical survey data for the FAA Establish standards and specifications for the collection of geodetic control, imagery, and survey data Promote productivity and fiscal responsibility by requiring a single collection of survey data Improve existing programs – data-centric support for and production of digital products, e.g., electronic Airport Layout Plan (eALP), electronic Airport Obstruction Charts (eAOC), Airport Diagrams Deliver static airport information through enterprise services to support NextGen in the NAS
