There are several versions of the logo you can download, but there are differences in how they look when you use them, particularly when placing them in a document or PowerPoint with a color background. The jpg versions available for download have white or black backgrounds included. If you insert them into a PowerPoint or put them on top of a color background, they will appear like this.

There are also three jpg versions of the logo that have a border around them. They would appear like this on a color background.

The png versions of the logo are transparent, which means that if you insert them into a PowerPoint or poster with a color background, the background color shows up behind the logo like this. You can download the logo with or without a border around it.

Question: When should you download the pdf (vector) version? Answer: You probably won’t need to. There are not that many times when most people would need or want to use the pdf, but there are reasons to: 1.For when you plan to place the logo on a promotional item, such as a T-shirt, mug, pen, etc. Vendors prefer the pdf version of the logo. 2.You can resize them to any size and they will not become distorted or pixelated. 3.However, for most uses such as PowerPoints or posters, it is easier to use the jpg or png versions.

Most of the time you don’t. If you’re putting the logo on a poster or PowerPoint, you don’t have to do anything. However, there are times when you should come to me to get official approval to use the logo. This mostly happens when you want to put the logo on a promotional item like a T-shirt, mug or pen or anything else you’re planning to sell or give away. The University of Georgia requires that we get approval before putting the university’s trademarks on these items. These trademarks include: The Arch The University of Georgia name itself The acronym, UGA And the Athletic Association’s Super “G” The process is very simple – I fill out a form, attach artwork of the trademarked item you want to use (because our logo includes the Arch, this means the Warnell logo has to be approved as well), and someone higher up at UGA takes a look at it and says yes, so long as we follow the rules. These rules are easy: We have to use a vendor that is officially licensed by UGA (the list is here: http://www.externalaffairs.uga.edu/policies/nodes/view/445); http://www.externalaffairs.uga.edu/policies/nodes/view/445 We have to include ® in the artwork; We have to use the official colors; We can’t alter the Arch or the Super “G.” That means we can’t change the shape or slant it or superimpose other words or artwork on top of it (such as superimposing animals over the G or making the Arch look like trees). More information about this can be found here: http://styleguide.uga.edu/index.php?/entries/logo_guide_and_downloads http://styleguide.uga.edu/index.php?/entries/logo_guide_and_downloads We have to abide by this policy.
