8 Between 800 and 1066 AD. The word Viking means a pirate raid. The Vikings were famous for sailing and trading. The Vikings were in Canada around 1000 AD. The word ”Berserk” comes from terrifying Viking warriors.

9 The Vikings are Important to Us because:  They were able to travel, conquer and bring new materials to Denmark.  They fill a lot in Danish history.  They had a big influence in Europe.  Harald Bluetooth, who was the last Viking King, changed the Danish religion from pagan to Christian.

12 ● Christian 4 th was the Danish King. ● He is famous because of his buildings and wars. ● His first wife was Anne Cathrine of Brandenburg. ● The second wife was Kirsten Munk.

18 Anne Cathrine ● Anne Cathrine was Christian 4 th 's first wife. ● She had 6 children. ● She was queen from1597- 1612.

19 Kirsten Munk ● Kirsten Munk was the second wife of Christian 4 th. ● She lived from 1598-1658 ● She was harsh. ● From 1615-1628 she was queen. ● Christian's left hand.

20 The Danish Flag The Danish Flag is called Dannebrog. Dannebrog means The Flag of the Danes, and it is a national symbol. Dannebrog is the oldest national flag in the world.

22 The legend about Dannebrog June 15 th 1219 - The Battle by Lyndanisse (Talinn, Estonia, ) The Battle by Lyndanisse was won by the Danish king, and the flag still means a lot to the Danish Royal Family.

37 Trade and Industry  Denmark has very few natural resources.  The Danish economy is very dependent on the international trade.  The Danish currency is called “Kroner” (Crowns).  Denmark has the highest taxation in the world.  Denmark is in European Union.  Denmark is importing and exporting mainly from other EU-countries.  Denmark is the leading producer of wind turbines.

38 Production Denmark is producing oil and gas from the North Sea. Denmark is producing 38% of the world’s wind turbines. Denmark also has a lot of beef and pork which is mainly sold to Germany.

40  Maersk is the biggest Danish company.  It has activities in 130 different countries.  It has 108,000 employees.  300 vehicles.  Maersk owns the biggest container ships in the world. (The Triple E- Vessels)  Maersk’s biggest ships only produce half the CO 2 normally produced by so big ships.

41 Biggest technical company in Denmark. Founded in 1925 17 th November. Made a big jump from batteries to loudspeakers, microphones and not-battery radios. B & O’s televisions. Known for stylish design for products. Spread all over the world Many Danish families have or have had a B & O televison.

42 Lego factory and Legoland are both situated in Billund. Lego (the toy) is made up of small plastic bricks. Lego has made a lot of other things like movies, board games and video games. The inventor of Lego (the toy) was called Ole Kirk Christiansen (7 th April 1891 – 11 th March 1958). The family Kirk Christiansen owns the company Lego.

43 Vestas Wind Systems A/S is a Danish company, which is making wind turbines. It is the largest in the world! Vestas was founded by Peder Hansen in 1945. They have made more than 44,000 wind turbines in 30 years. Vetsas had at the end of 2010, 23,250 employees internationaly. Vestas has installed over 41,000 wind turbines in 63 countries on five continents.

45 Facts about Kolding Kolding is 218km². All in all 605km² There lives around 57,000 people. Kolding is the 7 th largest town in Denmark.

46 Kolding centre and the mall The pedestrian area. There are cafés where you can have your lunch. The mall Kolding storcenter.

47 The indoor pool It is near our school. You can have swimming lessons there and lots of fun. The indoor pool

48 The old castle It is now a museum. Christian the 4 th lived there.

50 The beach and the harbour You can swim on a hot summer day. At our harbour there are a lot of ships and boats.

51 Industry Metal industry, packing industry and transport and shipping. Oxen were driven from the Northern Jutland to Kolding. The geographical position is important.
